Job Description
SCOPE OF POSITION
The PGY1 pharmacy residency program is a 12-month curriculum that builds on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for the medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions. The residency is conducted within the requirements established by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Accreditation Standard for Postgraduate Year One (PGY1) Pharmacy Residency Programs. Pharmacists who successfully complete the PGY1 pharmacy residency will be able to practice as highly qualified independent practitioners and be eligible for board certification and postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE
Residents must be a graduate of an ACPE-accredited Doctor of Pharmacy degree program. Pharmacists who have experience beyond entry level practice and are licensed and practicing pharmacy in the United States may be considered for a residency position if they meet all other qualifications to be ranked as a candidate.
Valid and active pharmacist licensure in Tennessee must be obtained within 90 days of residency start date.
BLS, ACLS, and PALS required.
